Where to Learn

Beginner Courses.

We have been running RYA syllabus beginner courses since 2016 for new members to give them the basic windsurfing skills, and knowledge about the club. These are run by our own passionate RYA instructors many who have been members for quite a long time.

At the end of the course students are free to use the facilities 365 days a year, and of course sail at Hickling which has the best sailing conditions, and arguably the most beautiful spot of all the Broads.

Courses are run depending on demand, and usually in the summer months following our recruitment drive at the annual come and try day.

The club is affiliated to the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) it is also an RYA recognised training centre (RTC).

‘Taster’ sessions and beginner courses are also run at Whitlingham Outdoor Centre (RYA approved) at Trowse, Norwich. We offer reduced membership fees to anyone who has taken a course at Whitlingham.

Their website is www.whitlinghamadventure.org.uk

Alternatively if you just want to have a go and are thinking about joining our club, then come along to the club’s annual ‘Come n Try Day’, normally held in May/June (See Events page).

As a beginner or relatively inexperienced windsurfer you may feel nervous about joining a club and then being left to your own devices. The club has 10 qualified RYA Start Windsurfing instructors and also has a ‘buddy system’. Any member can contact one of these instructors and arrange to go sailing with them on a 1:1 informal basis.
