Actual 2010 Fun day pic.
The smiles say it all…. another lovely day on the club beach, very warm and sunny as predicted! SE F2/3 winds fueled some excellent relay racing on the Fanatic Vipers. Ben’s team (slightly heavier weights) vs Gareth’s team. Neck and neck most of the way with Ben’s team pulling through in the end despite having the penalty of a smaller board and sail. Then into the freestyle competition judged by Chairman Dave Black and former UK Freestyle Champion Ben.
Lunch was to the usual high standards, thanks to Wendy.
Three races off  ‘the point’ in the afternoon topped off a typical social HWC fun day. Tony West wrapped his sail on the post to the amusement of all and Lisa’s laughter and race tactics almost brought the race to a standstill! Best parrot category, upwind 360s, best beginner, together with mens, ladies and childrens race winners – all amounted to some inventive judging and prizes all-round. Thanks to all, see you next year!    Please leave a comment!

If you want to do some racing then please keep an eye on the Forum pages for dates. One of the club’s members has offerred to take the lead and run some racing in the next few weeks. Just turn up on the day, agree some waypoints and off you go.

This is one of the highlights of the year for members. It’s all about joining in with light hearted competition, free lunch (the legendary sausages), prizes, and having fun .. of course.

• All levels of ability catered for.
• We are expecting F3-4, sun and warmth, but if not then Fun is guaranteed anyway. Events will depend on the conditions.

Picture from 2009 Fun day –  a day for everyone!

Instructors Gareth (big G) and Martin helping club members to get to the next level. Some theory on the beach before putting it into practice on the water.  A great turnout, hot and enough wind for all levels.  Another perfect and relaxing day at the club.

As a beginner or relatively inexperienced windsurfer you may feel nervous about joining a club and then being left to your own devices. The club now has six qualified RYA Start Windsurfing Instructors and has set up a ‘buddy’ system. The new instructors are John  Christie, Tony West, Richard Houghton, Martin Harwood, Darren Knights and Philip Peaston.

Any member can contact one of these instructors and arrange to go sailing with them on a 1:1 basis. For more details see the Buddy System section under “Beginners Information” on the Home Page and then contact Philip Peaston on 07909992520 or e-mail memberships@hicklingbroad.co.uk
