This is being listed on behalf of some club members that live just 100m down the road from the club. The kit has not been used for a few years and it’s now time to free up some garage space. An interesting collection: A Modern Bic and two sails (~approx 6 years old) and a couple of Mistral classics of (15-20+? Years): Screamer, and Escape (long style race board).

See the equipment on our Gallery here.

Boards:

  • Bic sport Techno, 152L. length 283cm, width 69cm.
  • Mistral Escape, 190L, length 345cm, width 65cm. Complete with good quality fitted board bag.
  • Mistral Screamer, 103L, length 277cm, width 56cm.

Sails:

  • Bic sport fun slalom, 4.7m
  • Tushingham Hekler, 6.5m (Modern and in good condition)
  • Bic sport Freewing, 7.4m (Modern, and looked in almost unused condition)
  • Fanatic Airwave, 5.7m + yellow mast

Other:

  • 2 Further masts, (one presumably is more modern for the Bic)
  • 3 booms, Bic sport slalom 1.66/2.06, Hawaii proline 1.82/2.38, + one other similar size.
  • Maui magic seat harness, large
  • Large kitbag
  • See pictures for  deckplates, extensions, etc

Please call Pauline and John on 01692 598635 to view. The main aim is for someone to get use and fun from the kit, so feel free to make an offer.

Martin’s verdict:

The Bic and two modern sails are in very good condition and could suit someone who wants to get into the sport at a low cost, someone who wants to have more fun planning in lighter winds, beginner, or heavier weight in stronger winds.

The Escape is a good option for anyone who wishes to sail upwind in light winds or indeed course racing. It would be a good upgrade of my old F2 lightening that I used to race with Dave H and Tony M 25 years ago. Not sure I have enough space, but it’s tempting.

After a quick look we could only see an obvious minor repair on the top deck of the Escape, no other  evidence of repairs or damage, although do check it all yourself before purchase.  John is happy for anyone to try on the water first. The kit will be available for a month after which any remaining items will be ‘re-cycled’.
