Hi all – especially those of you planning to sail and use the club kit.

A member helpfully reported a problem yesterday (Sat 4.5.13) that the padlocks securing the club boards together in the kit hut were difficult to re-lock. These are the brass padlocks securing the steel line through the boards, one on each side of the hut. Happily, the door lock on the hut is fine so the kit can be secured as normal in a locked hut.

We are on the case already in that Tony West or myself will go and have a look in the next few days and check things over. However, there is not a lot of wind forecast so it might be a day or six before we get down.

If you have problems then please let us know. If desperate, I might be able to pop over and help sort it.

WHEN THIS HAS BEEN LOOKED AT I WILL UPDATE THIS POST.

Thanks

These locks are very fiddly to lock and unlock compared to the other types we use on the gates. The engraved numbers are also difficult to see in the dim light.
May be a good move to replace them?

Thanks Martin

As an update for all on this topic, I visited Hickling today (8 May) and one of the locks was stuck open and has been removed completely with a view to replacement. JT is on that case and will source a new pair of locks, and replace both. The design has all the faults Martin mentions, plus it is VERY easy to reset the code when operating the lock, which is not very helpful!

THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THE CLUB BOARDS ARE AVAILABLE TO USE, BUT PLEASE IF YOU DO SO, ENSURE THE KIT HUT IS LOCKED AT ALL TIMES WHEN NOT BEING ACCESSED.

Hi Members.
The faulty padlock in the kit hut has been repaired and is back in place so all is safely gathered in.
What a great windy week this has been. Here’s hoping for some more.
