Hello All,

Do any of you experienced hands want to chip in and express an opinion on when / if sea breezes kick in at Hickling on these Summer days? For instance, on a relatively still day like today is there a predictable hour or so of wind in the evening, or is not as easy as that?

Cheers,
Mark

I’m not an expert but here is my observations.

The sea breeze works in a Southerly, more powerful with a little Easterly in it, less powerful with a little Westerly.
Works slightly better pre-summer where the sea is still cold.
Comes in at 3:30pm ish. Can stay for 2 hours or so.
Doesn’t work when the wind is Northerly – haven’t a clue why.
Can be the only place on the whole Eastern coast/UK to be windy.
If the forecast shows 5 to 10 mph Southerly off the coast then it usually works for me.

Hope that helps.
