Sorry for the late post on this but I have only just been passed the full details.
Event:
Quayside windsurfers watermans evening.
When:
Friday 13/08/2010 from 20:00. That is today if you are reading this in the morning after I post this!
What it is:
A get together of all local windsurfers and a good chance meet like minded people. There is the added bonus of Nik and Ant Baker being there doing a paddleboard demo on the river (wetsuits needed if you want to have a go). They are also going to be talking about the new 2011 kit. I am sure we can find time for a few beers along the way!

A handful of HWC members made the Pub last night with Nik baker, the living legend of the UK windsurfing scene. Nik has ranked World 1st/2nd in every windsurfing class so far; long board race, short board race, super cross, wave, freestyle, indoor – you name it he's done it.
Such a down to earth , approachable, professional but fun loving guy. We see that attitude reflected in windsurfers across the UK, and it's certainly a feature of our club too. I remember Nik judging a wave freestyle event at Hove a couple of years back. One of the youth competitors had cobbled some old kit together off eBay but broke his mast in the shore dump in trying to get out for one of the sessions. Nik just popped home and gave this lad one of his own masts so that he could continue. It's this sort of supportive behavior that sets such a good example to the rest of us and influences the youngsters coming into the sport. It's also a reason why I and others feel so passionately about helping new members settle into the club and enjoy not only the actual windsurfing, but the support and social aspects too.
Quayside hosted the evening, Neil and crew done a great job in making everyone feel welcome. North and Serverne have some seriously innovative kit. Neil has pledged to come over to the club and sample the delights first hand, and perhaps we can arrange a demo to meet the Quayside team some time in 2011. A shame we didn't have more notice as the rest of you missed a real treat.
A quick plug – hope you can make it for the fun day (4th September) , even if it's just to pop down and share some lunch with us.
Cheers,
Martin
