As you may or may not know I ( with help ) have built a new sail rack to replace the old one. As the old one

got plenty of use it was decided to build a slightly longer, more substantial one. The new rack will take 8 sails

with normal clew to boom fitting and 2 ( so far, more could be added ) for sails with cutaway clews. The rack is

ready for use . I sailed on sunday 16th and used it. Please feel free to do same. As it is a different design to the

old one, I would appreciate any comments on its user  friendliness and it would be fairly easy to make any adjustments.

Cool   M. midget

P.S. Three U.E.A lads sailing on Saturday  BAREFOOT IN DECEMBER ? Whats all that about ?

Cant comment on its use-ability but it looks the bees knees to me.

The sail rack look wonderful – but……

The hooks are too high and close to the cross member.  Unless your boom extends beyond the clew by 3″ or so, it's vitually impossible to hook the sail into the rack.  Had to extend my boom by 15cm to hang up a 6.7 Hellcat today.

Hickling in a 15-20kt northerly doesn't get any better.   Felt very lonely out on the Broad today (no other masochists out on boards or boats except 3 intrepid kayakers), although wind and water actually pretty good for January such that I managed to avoid any impromptu swimming…..

Bloody stupid machine.

Hi Mike. I dont know what happened to my last message. I'll try again.

As I explained in my description of the sail rack, if you have a sail with an inset clew cringle you have

to hang it on the reverse side of the cross bar. Only 2 hooks at the moment for these sails. More could be added

if required.

Mr. M Midget.

Confused Serves me right for hanging sails up in the near dark…  I didn't notice the hooks on the other side.

Elegant use of scaffolding poles and purple rope though!

Yep used it for the first time over the last three days and works a treat, even for small 4.0m sails.  You just need to used your downhaul to tie the boom down.

Well done Cool
