WINTER SAILING EXCLUSION ZONES AT HICKLING BROAD

The club has agreed to co-operate with the Broads Authority in not sailing in some areas of Hickling Broad during the winter months. These parts of the broad are to be zoned off for Winter Bird Refuges.
The zones will be marked with buoys and should not be entered from 1st November until 28th February.
It is very important for the club that these no sailing zones are strictly observed!

The no sailing zones are shown in red. (November to February inclusive)

NEW SPEED RECORDS SET

It's official. In the Masters of Speed event on the canal Starboard/Pryde rider, Antoine Albeau breaks the world speed record with an amazing 49.09kts over 500m. It was tough work. In a number of wipeouts he destroyed 2 weight jackets, one spreader bar and several battens.
Farrel 0'Shea also beat the British record with a stunning 44.46kts
It won't be long before someone breaks the magic 50.

 GPS at HICKLING

Above are the tracks recorded by Martin Harwood`s Garmin 201 GPS on a recent sail on Hickling Broad.
The different colours represent the different speeds obtained.

New Memorial bench for club

Ivans wife Betty and daughter Carol came to see the new Ivan Palfrey memorial bench, that has been installed at the beach and were extremely pleased with the end result. Thanks go to John and Graham for their work.

New storage facility for Club Boat!

Club members have successfully installed the new boat ramp on the beach which will mean the boat can now be stored out of the water, but can be quickly launched when required.

A big thanks to all involved in this project.
