"24 Sept 2013
Dear Dave

This time last week I was on Hickling Broad in a lugsail with some friends when a squall hit us and we sank in the middle of the broad! A kind windsurfer from your club very kindly went for help and my friends were rescued. I just wanted to pass on a huge thank you to the kind man who went for help for us! Perhaps if you know who it was you could let me know and pass on our thanks

Best wishes

Katie"
----------------------------------------------------
What a nice message. Anybody know who the kind windsurfer was?

I like a few others were lucky to be able to take advantage of the last three days wind. While people were loosing shed roofs and fences we were ripping it up on 4.0m sails!

Friday was out on a 5.0m and 81l wave board and sailed for about 3 hours. Very constant wind and perfect conditions . Well done for Darren making it past the point to join me, though I think it was his first time being over powered on a 5.25!

Saturday got another classic day and sailed for 2 hours. Went out on the 5 again but after about 2 runs had to swap to the 4.0m as there were some brutal gusts out back hitting about 50mph. Never had a day like it sailing a 4.0m in that much constant wind. At times a 3.0m would have done the job!

Sunday was a bit of a let down with very gusty conditions. Went out on 5.7m and 93l FSW but the wind was very on and off with the gusts being well spaced out. Gave up after an hour, guess was spoilt with the two days before.

Now back at work in a bit of pain!

Still any wind next weekend?

Back on the water at last!

The weekends milder weather persuaded me and many others to wake from hibernation and grab the chance of a January blast. The gusty conditions and my lack of fitness meant I seemed to spend more time in the water rather than on it. My new winter suit and boots kept me toasty which is more than I can say for the UEA guys. With endless enthusiasm and bare feet they sailed throughout the day, until they were red and blue with cold. Hope to see you all again soon.
